What is Joyful Noises?

It’s my way of sharing my music with others. It’s mostly filled with compilations of church arrangements, but occasionally I find time to write something original.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Zip. But donations are very much appreciated. Would you like to donate? Click here to do so.

 How often do you update?

Likely not too often, so don’t hesitate to sign up for the mailing list. I don’t have a lot in the department of “spare time”–much like everyone else! But I usually end up making at least one arrangement every other month for my ward choir to sing or for others to perform.

Who are you?

My name is Jenny Richins. I’m a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I have been tremendously blessed in the department of musical ability. I don’t have a degree in music (BS in psychology from BYU), but I have a passion for it, and I’d like to think I do a half-decent job of it. While I specialize in singing, arranging music and composing it from scratch has been a very fulfilling hobby for me. After I was called as the music chair and choir director for my local congregation, music has become my duty and has come more readily to me than ever before.

I’m the youngest of six children and the only girl. I’m a Fishburn by birth, but count myself pretty lucky to have the Richins name to pass on to my kids. I live with my husband, cat, and two children in the Indianapolis area, where I was born and raised, along with most of my immediate and extended family members. I’m a stay-at-home mom and daycare provider, so my house is always filled with all kinds of joyful noises (often very, very loud ones).

What if I don’t find something I like?

Sorry I couldn’t help you out. It’s hard to find the right arrangement or composition for your specific needs. Luckily there are a lot of additional resources! Check out my Additional Resources page for other websites to check out. If you like something I have on my site that still isn’t perfect but might just need some tweaking, please contact me to see if I can work something out with you. Key changes are fairly quick and simple, but adding an additional vocal part takes more time. Depending on what you need and how much time I have, we may be able to figure it out.

What if I have a question?

I’m new to WordPress and haven’t set up any kind of contact page just yet. However, I will try to get on that quickly. For now, I’ll do my best to respond to any questions submitted in the form of posts. Word of warning–I’m not always the best at keeping in correspondence, usually due to things getting lost in my inbox among the rest of my emails or due to being too busy to log-in to the page. If this becomes the case, I apologize and can assure you it isn’t on purpose. I will do my best to answer questions in a timely manner (please allow at least 24-48 hours for questions to be answered). If you need to ask something you don’t want posted online, send an email to jenfish@byu.net and I will (hopefully) see it and send you a timely response.

Why am I still reading this page?

Probably because you’re compelled to continue because of my awesome writing skills. But really–this is the end. Stop reading and go check out the rest of my site! I suggest looking at Religious Arrangements.
